Del Boy is to star in the next advert of Marks & Spencer's food on TV this coming Sunday, this will be a stark contrast to the deep breathy ladies voice-over that has become famously associatted with M and S over the last few years.

The 40-second spot will run for three weeks, first airing at 7.45pm on ITV1 this Sunday September 7.
It is timed to coincide with the launch of a new M&S Italian range this month.
The “this is not just food” adverts has now come to an end and will refreshingly take on a whole new sound with David Jason at the helm. British Actor David Jason also starred in other series as Frost and Darling Buds of May, but is most rememberd for his comic acting as Cockney Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses. David Jason will take over the role of promoting M&S meals from Sunday
Marks and spencer also confirm other actors will also follow David Jason over the coming months also providing new voiceovers for their new adverts. The first advert is expectedto run for around three weeks and show Jason discussing the ingredients he is using for an Italian risotto, only to reveal it is an M&S prepared meal.

He was chosen for his "universal appeal with the British public", a spokeswoman said. M&S will continue to screen the "This is not just food" slogan at the end of the ad, although it will not be spoken.
The retailer said the new ad marked "the next step in the now legendary M&S advertising campaigns".
Whether he actually acts as Del Boy remains to be seen!
